Festival of the Sea is a community driven festival located in Barwon Heads, Victoria. Held each year during March, this festival celebrates our connection to the sea through live music, art, food, education and recreation.
20 years in 2020
We started our 20th Festival of the Sea with enthusiasm and well attended activities filled with marine education. The week was a success until Friday the 13th, when the decision was made to cancel the rest of the festival due to COVID-19 concerns. We stand by that decision in an effort to protect public health and wellbeing.
We would like to acknowledge all of our funders, volunteers, partners, participants and local businesses and traders who helped us with the festival this year. We thank you for your ongoing support that we appreciate so much.
Below is a list of the activities that occurred through the week with success:
- Moonah Arts Trail;
- Marine Science Night with Barwon Heads PS;
- Rockpool Ramble with Barwon Heads PS;
- LEN Talk; Land, Sea, Sky;
- Connections to the Sea Forum;
- Marine Trivia Pub Quiz; and
- Seachange Quilters Exhibition.
Activities planned for later in 2020:
- Turn the Tide film tour; and
- Shorebird Art activity.
The 20th Festival of the Sea was funded by the City of Greater Geelong, Barwon Coast and the Barwon Heads Community Bank.
